Family Photos 2018

HELLO! Ahh, it’s been quite a while since I blogged (July, to be exact) and I just cannot believe how much I miss it. I struggle with finding the balance to blog and be more present with my family, but I promise to try to do both. To start, I wanted to share the family photos we took a few weeks ago. They are definitely more casual than the past few years, but I sort of love that. Our girls are growing so so fast, and I cherish these family photos each and every year..

My very talented friend, Megan (from Under the Willow Photography), always seems to capture such great shots. My absolute favorites are the closeups of each of the girls.. those smiles melt my heart.

Chloe’s 7th Birthday Party: Under the Sea

This past weekend, we celebrated Chloe turning SEVEN (I can’t believe I’m even typing that number), with family + friends ‘Under the Sea.’ We had so much fun planning, shopping, and creating all the party supplies for the event. We even set up a cute little photo booth for some fun + silly pics! Here’s a peek at all the special details..

Coconut Oil Chocolate Chip Cookies

It’s almost Valentine’s Day, and if you read my blog post last week, you know we love to celebrate together as a family. My girls love to share in the excitement of the holiday, and insisted on making Daddy some yummy treats.. Coconut Oil Chocolate Chip Cookies. They have become a staple in our house since I was pregnant with Capri, and something we always make for special occasions (or even when we just have a sweet tooth)! The recipe is quick, easy and soooooo delicious!

Coconut Oil Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients:

3/4 cup coconut oil (I liquify it in the microwave for approx. 30 seconds)
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/4 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
2 cups chocolate chips
optional: 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • In a mixer, beat together coconut oil, sugar + brown sugar until light and fluffy
  • Add eggs one at a time
  • Mix in vanilla
  • Combine flour, baking powder + salt in medium bowl
  • Slowly add flour mixture to mixer
  • Stir in chocolate chips
  • Scoop dough into 2 Tbsp rounds
  • Place on non-stick baking sheet
  • Bake 10-12 minutes until golden brown
  • Enjoy!

Happy Valentine’s Day from House on Prairie Lane!

Family Photos 2017

Each year, my best friend, Megan, and I spend approximately two months planning out family photos. It sounds unreal, but its true.. ha! It’s definitely a collaboration + team effort when it comes to making ALL the decisions. Everything from our outfits, location, and even snacks to pack for the kids (to keep them happy)! We send an obnoxious amount of texts to each other and annoy the heck out of our husbands, but in the end, we are soooooo grateful for the moments that we captured..

Love them! I can’t wait to print and hang these on our walls. It always makes me sad to look back and see how fast my babies are growing, but so forever grateful to have these to look back on and cherish as precious memories.

Megan did an amazing job, and recently started her own photography business.. Under The Willow Photography. She focuses on newborn photography, but does amazing work no matter what she captures. Follow her Instagram account and see for yourself!
